Examine key concepts in K-8 mathematics and how children build understanding of them. Discuss video and print case studies, explore mathematical questions, and engage in a study of your students’ development. Analyze lessons from innovative math curriculum and discuss current research in math teaching and learning. Edu 6019 will incorporate units from EDC’s Developing Mathematical Ideas (DMI) series. Graduate students will:
- Explore mathematics content
- Recognize key math ideas your students struggle with
- Support the power and complexity of student thinking
- Learn how core math concepts develop across grades
